چکیده

Endolymphatic sac tumors are aggressive papillary tumors of the temporal bone that could be associated with von Hippel-Lindau disease (VHL). We present imaging findings of a VHL family with two cases of endolymphatic sac tumors. These tumors spread to the cerebellum and the cerebellopontine cistern and may mimic more frequent tumors of this region. They show predominantly high signals on T1and T2-weighted images and enhance heterogeneously. There are some difficulties in its differential diagnosis from other vascular and nonvascular tumors of the temporal bone. Increased signal intensity at unenhanced T1-weighted MR imaging is common and may help distinguish these lesions from more common aggressive temporal bone tumors.

MR of the endolymphatic duct and sac: findings in Menière disease.

PURPOSE To compare the visibility of the endolymphatic duct and sac on high-resolution MR images with the symptoms and clinical course in patients with Menière disease. METHODS Twenty-two patients with unilateral Menière disease were sorted into two groups on the basis of the clinical stage of their disease at the time of imaging. Group 1 included patients in the acute phase, who presented wi...

Endolymphatic sac tumor in a patient with von Hippel-Lindau disease: MR imaging findings.

A 29-year-old male patient with von Hippel-Lindau disease who had an operation for cerebellar hemangioblastoma six years ago is presented. The patient had a four-year history of a slow-growing, locally invasive vascularized lesion of the temporal bone involving the cerebellopontine angle. The mass, studied by MR imaging, was almost completely cystic in appearance. Pathological examination after...

Arachnoid granulations of the posterior temporal bone wall: imaging appearance and differential diagnosis.

Arachnoid granulations are rarely seen on high-resolution CT (HRCT) at the posterior temporal bone wall, where they appear as erosions, without bone spicules and often with a lobulated surface. Differential diagnosis includes endolymphatic sac tumor, paraganglioma, chordoma, and chondromatous and metastatic tumors. MR imaging can confirm the diagnosis because arachnoid granulations behave like ...

Cerebellopontine angle invasive papillary cystadenoma of endolymphatic sac origin with temporal bone involvement.

The authors report the MR, CT, and pathologic findings in a case of invasive papillary cystadenoma originating in the endolymphatic sac and involving the temporal bone. This case illustrates characteristic imaging features of this lesion. The authors emphasize awareness of this entity with its aggressive temporal bone involvement as an aid to pathologic differential diagnosis.
